The Tyler Place

So what if it rains. Our family resort vacations and children's programs are virtually weatherproof from late May to September. The 9 kids and teen programs (each with its own separate indoor recreational facilities) continue full steam, rain or shine. And for adults, after a leisurely breakfast, you might try slipping out of your raincoat into something more comfortable and going back to bed. There's also the indoor heated pool for water aerobics or laps, and yoga and kickboxing. The Field House gym has indoor volleyball, basketball, bounce house, bungee jumping, Fitness Center and Arts & Crafts studio. We also take guests to a nearby sports complex for indoor tennis, racquetball, squash and handball. At The Tyler Place we believe nothing quite beats a drizzly day for pirate ships and treasure hunts, puddle hopping and fishing.

The old barometer at The Tyler Place
Lots of indoor activities for all age groups

This was a vacation the entire family enjoyed! We were able to relax and enjoy each other as a couple, knowing that our boys were happy and entertained. Even with rainy weather, there was still plenty to do. We took a two-person canoe on the Missisquoi trip and we're still married. Ha! Ha! The boys shared a room, slept through the night and we had to wake them each morning -- no small feat! Thank you, thank you, and thank you for a phenomenal stay! -G & K, Redding, CT, Carriage House III, 7/19-7/26. 2008

We always enjoy our stay -- even in the rain! What can I say? Tyler Place is in our blood. -R & N, Rye, NY, Popcorn, 8/02-8/09. 2008

Great vacation for all -- so nice to know our kids were as happy as we were! Fantastic week -- even while raining. -P & K, Larchmont, NY, Elmwood West, 8/02-8/09. 2008

Despite a week of rain, we've had another terrific Tyler Place vacation. When necessary, the whole plan just evolved from a sun-based plan to one that worked in the rain. The food, the people, the staff, the activities -- everything was great! Can't wait until next year! -M & K, Wayland, MA, Tyler North, 8/02-8/09. 2008

This was our first summer at The Tyler Place and we enjoyed every moment, both the soggy and the sunny. The staff and former guests made us feel welcome from the get go. On our first night, Ted introduced us to another couple, which led to one of those amazing, "Wow, it is a small world" moments. The food was great, the activities were fun and the scenery magnificent! -E & T, Burke, VA, McGlylnn, 8/02-8/09. 2008

Exactly what we were looking for! A perfect place for a family with a teenage boy. He's busy and happy all day and evening so we can be, too! Everything we'd hoped for and more -- even though the weather wasn't great. -C & C, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Inn #103, 7/19-7/26. 2008

I can't think of any place the whole family can have such a great time even when the weather is lousy. -M & D, Alexandria , Champlain, 8/02-8/09. 2008

A bad day at Tyler Place is better than a good time at home. -B & R, Newark, DE, Ferncroft E, 8/02-8/09. 2008

All the rain did not dampen this week! Seemed to bring people closer. Lots of conversation, happy faces. Our son is "aging out" this year. We cannot fathom figuring out a family vacation for next summer after nine years of T.P. Tyler Place has been a magical experience -- we recommend Tyler Place to everyone we know. All is not lost yet. A group of "us" with kids who are aging out may be back in 2009! The kids want to continue the tradition of T.P. and we parents want the total relaxation, pleasure and friendship of Tyler Place. Here's to 2009! Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain - don't let your children turn 16! -P & W, Ivyland, PA, Farmhouse South, 8/02-8/09. 2008

This is still the only vacation where rain never dampened anyone's spirit. A rainy week at Tyler Place beats a week of awesome weather at home any day! As usual, the staff was welcoming and accommodating, making my newly blended family feel like old friends. We could not have imagined the warmth and kindness we received from the moment of our arrival. -J & A, Trumbull, CT, Ferncroft F, 8/02-8/09. 2008

Excellent week despite the rain. Really appreciate the flexibility/arrangements for indoor activities. -J & M, Bronxville, NY, Winnie's, 8/02-8/09. 2008

We enjoyed our Tyler Place experience as usual. Weather was not as cooperative as in the past, but the whole family still found things to do and everyone was happy. -C & N, New York, NY, Kingfisher, 7/19-7/26. 2008

Excellent as always! The week passes by so quickly every time even if the weather was a bit drippy. So many friends… so little time! -C & R, Landenburg, PA, Carriage House I, 7/19-7/26. 2008

Despite the rain, we had a wonderful time. Thank you! -W & L, Old Lyme, CT, Willow, 8/02-8/09. 2008

Even during a rainy week, a week at The Tyler Place is the best family summer vacation. -E & J, Annandale, VA, Goldeneye, 8/02-8/09. 2008

As great as always. Loved it, except for the weather not great this year. Although it is the best vacation place for rain. -M & I, Arlington, VA, Inn #117-118, 8/02-8/09. 2008

We loved knowing that our children were in good hands, getting great meals and enjoying their days in a safe environment. Great place to come, with a variety of activities, even on the rainiest of weeks. We were impressed that there was a little something for everyone: arts, games, sports, quiet reading, swimming, fine dining, dancing, etc. -N & S, Brooklin, Ontario, Canada, Elmwood East, 8/02-8/09. 2008

Prior to experiencing The Tyler Place, we were convinced there was no such thing as a family vacation for parents of 2-year-old and 4-year-old girls. Not only did the Tyler staff ensure the children had a wonderful time, but also helped us understand that a "family vacation" is meant to be a vacation for the entire family -- mom and dad included. The biggest issue we had to deal with is which activity we wanted to pursue for the day. Everything else was taken care of by the competent staff. Thank you. -R & D, Flemington, NJ, Gander, 8/30-9/06. 2008

Rain or shine, this is a place of magic and laughter, really. Every year we meet guests (old and new) and connect in a unique way - either by trying a neat activity or through our children. -J & E, Winchester, MA, Willow, 7/07-7/14. 2007

The counselors' creativity is unmatched - I mean to turn a miserable, rainy afternoon into an exciting afternoon of mud sliding that the kids look forward to it, brilliant! -D & M, Greenbrook, NJ, Davies, 7/07-7/14. 2007

It is the only place you can go, have it rain everyday and the whole family still had a great week! -S & T, Wyoming, DE, Carriage House I, 7/07-7/14. 2007

Although it rained a lot, you kept the kids entertained and happy. Thanks for making it such a great vacation! -R & A, Bedford, NH, Redhead, 7/07-7/14. 2007

As usual, we had a great week. Even in spite of the rain, there's no place we'd rather be. -J & B, Canton, MA, Sandpiper, 7/07-7/14. 2007

Another excellent year. Even with the rain, there were many activities to still enjoy. Watching the older children mud sliding was fun. I bet they will never forget that fun. My daughter was excited to put on rain boots and splash in the puddles. We can't wait to get back again next year. -K & M, Hillsborough, NJ, Ferncroft B, 7/07-7/14. 2007

Considering the rain we had, it was a remarkably fun week. You can tweak this place with minor improvements, but all in all it's hard to improve The Tyler Place! This was our 9th summer and we still found fun new things to discover and try. It's also the place I feel safest trying out new things, whether it be rock climbing on the wall or yoga or arts and crafts. Thanks for carrying on the tradition! -S & J, Wayland, MA, Teal, 7/07-7/14. 2007

We enjoyed our second year here. Even though the weather was not the greatest, the staff made every effort to make up for the challenges of bad weather. Our daughter made new friends and my wife and I enjoyed seeing the great people we met last year! Loved fishing with Dave. He did a great job. -R & K, Worthington, OH, Inn #101, 7/07-7/14. 2007

We had a wonderful time even though we had some rain. I was impressed with the efforts Tyler Place made to continue activities despite the uncooperative weather. My husband is a city guy and was not sure he would be happy fishing and canoeing. He was the first one to say he wanted to come back. It is apparent that with your years of experience and input from guests, you have it all figured out. -S & S, Oak Hill, VA, Pintail, 7/22-7/29. 2006

For our 2nd year the stay at The Tyler Place was just as good - despite the rain. Our son said he wants to come back until he is a teenager! We agree with him! It's the best place - see you in 2007! -B & K, Centreville, VA, Inn #4, 6/24-7/01. 2006
